Andy to the Rescue

I ordered a small island to put in my kitchen to help hide my garbage can and organize a little bit better. I was going to put it together by myself, but alas, the instructions must have been written by a technical wizard in another country. I only made it to step two. Well, I put the pieces in the extra bedroom until Claude was off work so we could work on it together. Then we got sidetracked weeding and mowing between rainstorms.
Andy came to visit us on Thursday to get the lights for his new garage and go four wheeling, fishing, etc. I kind of roped he and Claude into putting it together for me. Thank goodness for good kids. I now have my island put together, and Andy had a place to sleep because we got the pieces of the island off his bed.
It was fun having Andy here for a few days. We watched the NBA game together, the Celtics beat LA (yeah). We went to El Toro and had Mexican food. It was just good to see him and enjoy him. WE LOVED IT.
Oh darn, he forgot his lights so we get to see him again when he is ready for them.

It has been a long time.

Alan and Stephanie and Cesar are in the photo above.
The picture to the left is Cason. Boy has he grown up. The picture to the right is Connor. They really change when you don't get to see them a lot.

The boys playing in the rock pile in the back yard.

I finally have some new pictures so got motivated to start blogging again. Alan got to get the boys for summer. He and Stephanie drove to California and brought them back. They came to see us on the only day that Alan and Stephanie had off together. We had a barbecue with lots of good food and had a great time. As you can see from the pictures, Connor doesn't really like his photo taken. He will get used to it again---grandma garbett is a photo addict.

Oh yea, SCHOOL IS OUT FOR SUMMER. Boy was I ready this time. Hopefully next year will not be a stressful as the last two have. I am getting used to teaching High School Seniors.

Look forward to more posts. I'm in the mood again.

Oh Yeah -- our dummy burn

I was sitting at home on Wednesday night when I heard what sounded like gun shots or something hitting the house. I went out on the porch and looked across the park. There was a huge fire burning up towards Finlaysons Subdivision. I could see little bodoes throwing something on the fire. Then it dawned on me---OH YEAH, it is the dummy burn for homecoming. Good thing, otherwise I would have thought it was something scairy.

Coach Garbett

Well, we finally got a chance to go and see Cliff at work. We went to the Holt Arena to watch Twin Falls and Poky High play football. We had fun. It is interesting to see the similarities and differences in big and little schools. We're glad Cliff is happy with his job. Hope Desi had a happy bithday.

We got a few pictures of the game but the lighting wasn't the greatest.
We did make it to Shopko and get Claudes safety glasses ordered. Were also able to go to Bamboo and have something to eat with Sippola and Cliff. It was a good day.

Tag Team Match

In the middle of August we had an interesting visitor to our front yard. A tall blond girl threw a wheel bearing on the car trailer she was pulling from Pocatello to Afton. Drew Bolingbroke directed her to the parking lot in front of our house to park, and Claude had her pull into the yard. She called her boyfriend for help. Camie (that's her name) said. Rulon wants to talk to you. Rulon who? The license plates said GOLD. It turned out to be Olumpic Gold Medalist Rulon Gardner.

He finally got there and was really nice. After getting the trailer so that they could move it he came to the garage and gave us a poster and book. He autographed them while we waited and then posed for pictures. Needless to say, Claude was in HEAVEN. Alan happened by for something and got to get in on the picture too.
