Jeff fuh fuh Dun Hamm

Well, we finally did something out of the ordinary. Jeff Dunham came to Pocatello and Jennifer got tickets for Claude and I, Her and Whitney, and Tom and Lydia.

It was a hilarious show. Guitar guy was even great.

I really like Achmed, the Dead Terrorist. My students even know my Silence, I Kill You that I took from him.

It was really fun being there so close. We were on row 7 on the floor in the center. I don't think we could have asked for better seats.

Bubba Jay was right at home in Pocatello.

Walter reminds me of so many older people (of which I am becoming one).

Being so close we didn't know whether to look at the screen or just the stage. We did both.

Then there is Peanut and Jalapeno on a Stick.

Whitney and Jenn got there just before the show started. Jenn even bought a t-shirt or two.

Claude and I got a room and spent the night. He had been up for 36 hours anyway so we needed a rest. We shopped on Friday and then came home.

Bruins and Diamondbacks

It was football time again at Holt Arena. Claude, Toad, and I went to watch Cliff's team play Century High School. Cliff came out and visit with us before the game. DeAnn said he always has his game face on. It was good to see him, and all the others who were there too. Most of the kids and grandkids were there. We must be bad luck because Twin lost. I think the referee's were really biased----so did the older man sitting behind me. I won't repeat what he said, but his wife told him to be good.
We also got to see Zaden in person for the first time. Boy is he CUTE! The lady sitting behind us said it wasn't fair, because we kept on getting more and more of our grandkids there. She said they were really good looking kids. Zaden was sure good. He got to be passed around a lot and the noise didn't seem to bother him. The other kids kept on kissing him too. There was a bear mascot there that Chloe was really interested in. See the guy in front of the bear? He is originally from Soda Springs but now teaches in Twin Falls. His name is Ted Larsen. He drove the bus with the cheerleaders and mascot on. DeAnn asked him if he would go get the mascot so Chloe could have her picture taken with him. He did.
As you can see, Chloe didn't want to have much to do with him when he was close. The other kids gave him five and were excited, but she just kind of looked at him. It was a fun day. We sure have good kids--------------and grandkids. Football is kind of nice to watch in Holt Arena. Hopefully we won't continue to bring them bad luck forever.

Brianna's Bridal Shower

Brianna and Cami are both getting married in July. I made it to Brianna's shower but not the wedding. We will be going to Cami's wedding next weekend. Will have more pictures then.

What a cute chair for the bride. I couldn't resist a picture.

It's hard to believe Brianna is old enough to get married. It wasn't that long ago that she was in my class at the Middle School.

Photo Opportunity --- all the girls plus.
Mandy, Sarah, Sue, Bea, Renee, and Candy

All the Garbett Kids except Jeff. Montana is a bit far to come for a day.

Rick, Candy, Renee, Claude, and Bea.

It is fun when we have a chance to get together.

July 4th - 2007

Cliff, Desi, and Chloe finally spent the night with us. It was lots of fun. Cliff had a class reunion on July 5th so they came up the 4th for the festivities and spent the night with us. We have a great view of the fireworks from our front yard so had a pretty good group this year. The skeeters were bad so we had to dig out the skeeter scoot. It was Avon so safe to use on kids.

Chloe had a fun time in the yard. She watered flowers with a spray bottle and even picked a few.

Claude loves to have his kids home. So do I. Emily, Neal, Taylee, Cliff, Desi, Chloe, Maxine Hildreth, Sue and some of her kids, some of Sarah's kids, and some of Claudes friends from work joined us this year.

We even moved the lawn furniture to the driveway. Taylee and Corbin enjoyed sitting in the rocker.

Alan and Andy had to work so we didn't get to see them this year. Clay played basketball but had to get back to Pocatello so didn't watch the fireworks with us. He also roped Cliff into playing basketball in the park. (I wonder if he is still stiff)

More July 4th

You can't tell from the photo, but the ear rings are glow in the dark.

Bill and Jan Shirley and daughter and son in law also came and watched the fireworks with us. It was fun.

Emily and Sue have a little chat.

Fun With Friends

Well, Summer has finally arrived in Soda Springs.
After much rain and scedules that didn't mesh we were finally able to get together with George and Carolee Kimball. As George says, "Who would have thought we would be such good friends." George used to be Mr. Kimball, the 9th grade history teacher and then the High School Principal. After many years and sad and happy times things kind of changed around. Now my best friend from younger days and Mr. Kimball are happily married and we are friends.

We have been planning get togethers and one of them finally happened. George and Carolee cooked in their back yard and we took desert. It was fun.

Now we just have to get Carolee retired so she will be up here all the time.

Andy to the Rescue

I ordered a small island to put in my kitchen to help hide my garbage can and organize a little bit better. I was going to put it together by myself, but alas, the instructions must have been written by a technical wizard in another country. I only made it to step two. Well, I put the pieces in the extra bedroom until Claude was off work so we could work on it together. Then we got sidetracked weeding and mowing between rainstorms.
Andy came to visit us on Thursday to get the lights for his new garage and go four wheeling, fishing, etc. I kind of roped he and Claude into putting it together for me. Thank goodness for good kids. I now have my island put together, and Andy had a place to sleep because we got the pieces of the island off his bed.
It was fun having Andy here for a few days. We watched the NBA game together, the Celtics beat LA (yeah). We went to El Toro and had Mexican food. It was just good to see him and enjoy him. WE LOVED IT.
Oh darn, he forgot his lights so we get to see him again when he is ready for them.

It has been a long time.

Alan and Stephanie and Cesar are in the photo above.
The picture to the left is Cason. Boy has he grown up. The picture to the right is Connor. They really change when you don't get to see them a lot.

The boys playing in the rock pile in the back yard.

I finally have some new pictures so got motivated to start blogging again. Alan got to get the boys for summer. He and Stephanie drove to California and brought them back. They came to see us on the only day that Alan and Stephanie had off together. We had a barbecue with lots of good food and had a great time. As you can see from the pictures, Connor doesn't really like his photo taken. He will get used to it again---grandma garbett is a photo addict.

Oh yea, SCHOOL IS OUT FOR SUMMER. Boy was I ready this time. Hopefully next year will not be a stressful as the last two have. I am getting used to teaching High School Seniors.

Look forward to more posts. I'm in the mood again.

Well, It is Christmas time again. The Lindsays are having their annual party tonight at the school. Andy and Mel and Payton and Torri came up to spend the day. Emily and Taylee came too. Alan and Steph and Steph's two boys also made the trip. They have been out in the snow having a good time as you can see from the photo's.

Oh Yeah -- our dummy burn

I was sitting at home on Wednesday night when I heard what sounded like gun shots or something hitting the house. I went out on the porch and looked across the park. There was a huge fire burning up towards Finlaysons Subdivision. I could see little bodoes throwing something on the fire. Then it dawned on me---OH YEAH, it is the dummy burn for homecoming. Good thing, otherwise I would have thought it was something scairy.

Coach Garbett

Well, we finally got a chance to go and see Cliff at work. We went to the Holt Arena to watch Twin Falls and Poky High play football. We had fun. It is interesting to see the similarities and differences in big and little schools. We're glad Cliff is happy with his job. Hope Desi had a happy bithday.

We got a few pictures of the game but the lighting wasn't the greatest.
We did make it to Shopko and get Claudes safety glasses ordered. Were also able to go to Bamboo and have something to eat with Sippola and Cliff. It was a good day.

Tag Team Match

In the middle of August we had an interesting visitor to our front yard. A tall blond girl threw a wheel bearing on the car trailer she was pulling from Pocatello to Afton. Drew Bolingbroke directed her to the parking lot in front of our house to park, and Claude had her pull into the yard. She called her boyfriend for help. Camie (that's her name) said. Rulon wants to talk to you. Rulon who? The license plates said GOLD. It turned out to be Olumpic Gold Medalist Rulon Gardner.

He finally got there and was really nice. After getting the trailer so that they could move it he came to the garage and gave us a poster and book. He autographed them while we waited and then posed for pictures. Needless to say, Claude was in HEAVEN. Alan happened by for something and got to get in on the picture too.
